The aim of the Shire Youth Plan is better understand what is important to young people across the Shire and identify what is needed in Newman, our regional towns and communities to help young people to thrive. The Shire of East Pilbara youth population in 2021 for ages between 12 – 24 represented 12.5% of our total population of 9,766 residents. The purpose of a focused and dedicated Youth Plan will guide decisions and resource allocation on youth service delivery programs and priorities focusing on current and future needs.
The Shire needs your help with shaping the strategic intent, specific projects and delivery of youth service delivery programs and priorities. Therefore the goal of this consultation is to get your say feedback on youth needs. This engagement seeks to gather feedback from young people and broader community members and key agency stakeholders through the use of a Youth Survey on the key issues of importance affecting their life as a young person in the Shire of East Pilbara. We will keep you informed, listen to your feedback and provide feedback on how the survey data (your input) influenced the decisions on the development of the Youth Plan The information will be used to guide the priorities for the development of the Youth Plan 2025-2030.
