What is the Youth and Community Hub?

The Youth and Community Hub is a purpose-built facility designed to bring youth, community, recreation and learning services together in one central location.

The Hub will support young people, families and the wider community by improving access to programs, services and safe spaces for connection, learning and recreation.

Why is the Youth and Community Hub needed?

The Hub responds to the growing and diverse needs of the Newman community by providing modern, flexible facilities that support youth development, community connection and wellbeing.

By co-locating key services and facilities, the Hub will improve accessibility, reduce fragmentation and support a more coordinated approach to service delivery.

    What facilities will be included?

The Youth and Community Hub is planned to include a mix of indoor and outdoor facilities, including:

    • Community Library
    • Youth Centre
    • Community Meeting Rooms
    • Creche and Playgrounds
    • Multi-Purpose Sports Court
    • Community Garden and Seed Bank

Facilities have been designed to be flexible and adaptable to support a wide range of programs and activities over time.

How is the Youth and Community Hub funded?

The Youth and Community Hub is being delivered through a combination of Shire investment and external funding.

The project has received funding from the Australian Government, the Western Australian Government and Lotterywest, with approximately $27.15 million in external funding secured. This external support allows the Shire to deliver a larger and more comprehensive facility while ensuring local investment is focused on long-term community benefit and value for money.

How will the community be kept informed?

This page will be updated as the project progresses, including when key milestones are reached and when information about construction timing and impacts becomes available.

Updates will be shared through the Shire's usual communication channels.

The Shire is committed to providing clear, accurate and timely updates throughout the life of the project.
