Project Update – March 2026 | Airport Redevelopment Moves Toward Delivery

Planning for the Newman Airport Integrated Redevelopment is continuing, with detailed design work progressing across the terminal building, taxiway and apron upgrade components.

The taxiway and apron extension and upgrade detailed design has been completed, with construction planning now progressing. The works include an additional taxiway and apron extension to increase airport capacity and support required improvements to the existing taxiway and apron.

Detailed design work for the terminal building upgrade is also progressing and is being coordinated with the taxiway and apron design to support a staged redevelopment program.

The project has progressed through planning, design refinement and stakeholder engagement to ensure aviation, safety and operational requirements are properly considered before works move into delivery.

The Shire is preparing to commence the tender process to appoint a suitably qualified contractor for the taxiway and apron works. Construction is expected to commence in mid-2026 and will be delivered in stages to help minimise disruption to airport operations.
