The Shire of East Pilbara has prepared a draft Community Safety Plan for 2026–2031.

This new Plan builds on previous efforts and responds to recent community feedback, local data and emerging challenges across our remote towns and communities.

Community safety is about more than just crime prevention. It includes how safe people feel in their homes, neighbourhoods and public spaces, and how well communities, services and agencies work together to prevent harm and support wellbeing.

The draft Plan focuses on three key areas to help improve community safety and perceptions of safety across the Shire:

  • the physical and built environment

  • community participation and awareness

  • partnerships with police, services, businesses and community organisations

The Plan sets out practical actions to reduce crime, improve perceptions of safety, and support more connected communities across Newman, Marble Bar, Nullagine and the Shire’s Aboriginal communities.

We are now inviting residents, businesses, community organisations and stakeholders to review the draft Plan and provide feedback before it is finalised.
